He Will Live and Not Die ~ A Jerry York story
My husband was working as a Janitor in a Hospital, and of course, he had to go by and into the rooms to clean up. A man came in in very bad shape by ambulance. His shift had just started, so he was there while all of this was going on for close to 8 hours. I believe the man had fallen from a high scaffolding and was pretty torn up with broken bones, punctured lungs, and more. My husband was able to hear what the Doctors were saying as he was cleaning and mopping outside the room, but the Lord was telling him something different, so he prayed the entire time. The only person there in the Hospital with this man was his sister, and she was pretty upset at all the things the Doctors were saying to her. They literally told her that there wasn't much they could do and that she should get his affairs in order. As if to say, he is dying, so you'll need to make arrangements. They gave her no hope at all.
The Holy Spirit kept speaking to my husband, telling him to pray and that they were wrong. This man was not going to die, so when he finally saw the man's sister in the hallway, he stopped and said, 'Mam, are you a Christian?' And she said, 'Yes, I am'. He then said, I don't know how to tell you this, but the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me since your brother came in, and He is telling me that the Doctors are not correct on this. He keeps asking me to pray, and I keep hearing that your brother will live and not die. She was in tears and completely overjoyed. When my husband got off work, he felt he'd done what the Holy Spirit asked him to do and went home. Once he got home, he told me the entire story of his day interceding for this man.
Soon after this, my husband got a new job, but not in Janitorial. This one was in Security, and so he moved on. He didn't see this woman at all after that night until about 3 weeks later, when the new job gave him the exact same Hospital to work at as a Security Officer. Right away, he made a decision, even though it wasn't a requirement of the job, he would walk all the ladies to their cars if they came out late at night. On his first night working as a Security Officer, a woman came out and so he offered to walk her to her car, which she accepted graciously. Before they got to her car, she said, 'You don't remember me, do you?' He looked and said, No, Ma'am, I'm sorry but I don't. She said, 'A few weeks back, you came to me and told me that the Doctors were wrong and that the Holy Spirit told you that he would live and not die.' He said, 'Oh yes, now I do remember you. ' She thanked him up and down again for all his praying and for sharing what the Holy Spirit told him with her that night, because he was right. Her brother did not die. In fact, he healed up quicker than anyone thought he could and was going to be going back to work very soon.
It was mind-blowing to say the least. The Doctors literally had her in tears telling her that her brother would not make it and because of my husbands faithfulness to pray and intercede as well as speak what the Holy Spirit said to speak he supernaturally moved from one job to a completely different job and ended up right back at the Hospital so that he cold hear the amazing testimony of what God had done.
